Getting to Tallinn

By plane

Tallinn Airport can be reached by few air carriers: Estonian Air (is associated with SAS), SAS, Lufthansa, Finnair (Aero), Czech Airlines, EasyJet. No RyanAir - unfortunately.

By boat

• from Helsinki:
• fast boats (1,5 hours): LindaLine, Tallink, Silja Line, Nordic Jet Line
• slow boats (3,5 hours, but with entertainment): Tallink, Eckerö Line, Viking Line
• from Stockholm: Tallink, Silja Line (via Helsinki)
• from St. Petersburg: Tallink, Silja Line

By train

By bus

From Tallinn to Viljandi

By bus

Preferrable option, as it is the most frequent and fastest connection. Bus trip to Viljandi lasts about 2 hours and costs 80-100 kroons (5-7 EUR), depending on the operator and time for travel. The taxi ride from the airport to bus terminal costs about 80 kroons (5 EUR).

Also about 6 o'clock pm goes to Viljandi bus, which has been booked already. Bus will stop in central city and airport. In case of emergency (if you would miss the charter bus to Viljandi), you could navigate to Viljandi independently by bus.

By train

Taxi trip from airport to central train station costs about 90 kroons (6 EUR). You do not have to change trains. See updated timetables at www.edel.ee

By car

Leave Tallinn using the motorway towards Tartu (Tartu maantee). After 105 km turn right and head towards Viljandi (about 60 kms, no more turns). See also the RAC Route Planner for details. Trip takes less than 2 hours.

In Viljandi

As it was proved recently experimentally ;-), most of the taxi rides within the Viljandi city limits cost 35 kroons (2,3 EUR). Then again, all of the necessary and/or interesting spots are within walking distance from Academy or hostel (10-15 min).
